Can You Help?

This is a good casue to get into for the holiday season...this will be my good deed...to share this with you and to do some myself

Dear quilting friends,

You may be aware that New Zealand has suffered a major mining disaster at Pike River mine on the west coast of the South Island, resulting in the deaths of 29 miners. Many of these miners had young families. One was soon to be a father. Like many New Zealanders, I am sharing the pain of the families of the miners. And like many, I have thought about what I could do to help.

I am part of Kiwiquilters, an email group for New Zealand quilters. We have a tradition, as do other quilting groups, of making Healing Hearts quilts for members and their families or friends who are suffering personal tragedy or serious illness. I have asked the group, and other quilting groups around the country, to contribute heart blocks to make into quilts for the miner’s families, and I will assemble and co-ordinate these.

Please consider making a block or several blocks for this cause. It doesn't matter that you don't know the people involved - neither do I. The love and support from strangers that is embodied in these quilts is something tangible that the families can get comfort from for years.

Here are the block details if you want to make some:-

- - Cream background – calico is fine
- - 6 ½” unfinished size (so they will be 6” finished)

- - Pieced or appliquéd heart or hearts
- - Any colours or patterns for the hearts. Some of the quilts will be for children, so children’s fabrics are fine too.
Please send to me at the address below. Thank you so much.

this "Bad to the Bone " fits my Bentley so well
( this is not my dog, he is thier display dog)
( but isn't he so cute!!!)

and it matches his collar...
which shortly after I put it on him..he broke the latch on it..

If I Didn't Have a Dog...or a Cat

If I Didn't Have a Dog... or Cat......

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.

My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.

All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.

When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.....

I could get to the door without wading through fuzzy bodies who

beat me there. I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I

wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several

fur bodies would need to get comfortable.

I would have money, and no guilt to go on a real vacation.

I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put

their yet unborn Grand kids through college.

The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit,

down, come, no, stay, and leave it ALONE. My house would not

be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers.

I would not talk 'baby talk'. 'Eat your din din'. 'Yummy yummy for the tummy'..My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere.

My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and

an extra leash.

I would no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L, W-A-L-K,

T-R-E-A-T, O-U-T, G-O, R-I-D-E, C-O-O-K-I-E

I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.

I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.

I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading 'mud' season. I would not have to answer the question 'Why do you have so many animals?' from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get.

How EMPTY my life would be!!!

I loved this when my freind sent it to me...and in tribute to my little pooches

both were gifts giving to me...and they are on my best gift ever list...Thanks Mom and Daneille

Fall Decorations

I got into making pumpkins this fall for some odd reason...these dryer vent pumpkins are a bit industrial.....but I like them

So quick and easy. Fairly cheap too..each vent makes two pumpkins, add a bit of orange paint and some embellishments
wha la!  pumpkins

These added with my sweater set...I am all ready for the Thanksgiving holiday..
Happy Thanksgiving to all my blogland friends and followers
I am thankful to each and everyone of you
please enjoy being with family and friends on this day...

Thanksgiving Funny

Pregnant Turkey

(This is priceless - would love to try this.)
One year at Thanksgiving, my mom went to my
sister's house for the traditional feast. Knowing
how gullible my sister is, my mom decided to
play a trick. She told my sister that she needed
something from the store.
When my sister left, my mom took the turkey out of
the oven, removed the stuffing, stuffed a Cornish hen,
and inserted it into the turkey, and re-stuffed the
turkey. She then placed the bird(s) back in the oven.
When it was time for dinner, my sister pulled the
turkey out of the oven and proceeded to remove the
stuffing. When her serving spoon hit something,
she reached in and pulled out the little bird.
With a look of total shock on her face, my mother
exclaimed, "Patricia, you've cooked a pregnant
bird!" At the reality of this horrifying news,
my sister started to cry.
It took the family two hours to convince her that
turkeys lay eggs!

hahaha!
Happy Thanksgiving Y'all

We have a New Pet at Our House

I don't know why, or where it come from but it has been hanging around for a few weeks now...Bentley loves to bomp it on the rear end and watch it jump....jump like a leap frog...because thats what it is ....a HUGE! frog..as big as my palm...like they say everything is bigger in Texas right...Well I guess so..Take a look for your self

we seen it once while the kids were here...but then it was gone...well I guess it went outside the fence to the side garden...I made it a little home out of a old terra cotta pot that I had..it went right in there..I was shocked..the temps are getting a bit cooler so thought it might need it...
I have no idea what kind of frog this is...but it sure is big...wish I could get a video of Bentley playing with it...
it is so funny to see him be so gentle with it..and it is sticking around so I think it lives here now..

Iowa Hawkeye's

My kids are huge Iowa Hawkeye fans...so this year when I was up north on vacation I picked up some fabric...Iowa Hawkeye of course...fleece

first I made a hat and scraf for my son in law to take with him..so when in leasure time he can support his team...I have some fun little models to model these for you..

here is the scarf supported by the Lovely Danika

and the hat and scarf ensemble

and then brother Devin had to model too..so handsome isn't he...check out them dimples

arent't they just precious?
then my daughters friend that lives here by me but is from Iowa is going to have a baby boy so I made her a hat , blanket and mittens ensemble
here is the hat

then there is tradition..I made Quillo's for my daughter , my son in law and Danika, but poor little Devin had none...I couldn't figure out what to make his with...until I seen this Hawkeye fleece

folded as a pillow

and out as a Quillo...the little pocket for your feet...this one is 1/2 yard longer because we anticipate him to be as tall as his Daddy..

Well I think I got them all covered don't you..I do wish I had a bit more of this fabric...just incase I need a last minute gift...

" Go Hawkeyes!!"

thanks what my grandkids say...hehehe! gotta love them
