Deployment Day - A Very Long Day

The day started early for us all....we stayed up late talking the night away...I have already cried once or twice.

But we all got dressed up in our USA garb my daughter made for us...decorated the car and got everything ready for the day...

and the back says..."Our Hero Gabe Riley"

me and the kids

and headed on out...Gabe sat in the back with the kids

one in each side

on to the ceremony..

the kids got bears to hold onto

She is supporting our flag, supporting her dad

then we got only 20 minutes to say our good byes...not long at all.

At first they stood as one

then we kinda got dispursed as everyone took a minute to step in to say good bye to the family, the parents that raised him to be the man that he is today

a moment with his daughter, words of wisedom

a big fat hug

one lone moment with his new wife

then we moved out to the stageing area, where the buses were to carry them all away...

Goodbye to his kids

Good bye to his wife

but wait I need one last kiss she says

please to all my blogland friends keep
Our hero Gabe Riley  in your prayers

as we walked away, in a moment my daugher, the Army wife walks alone with her children
she is strong, she is brave....she is going thru something I have never had to do...how do I help her, how do I guide her, how will she make it thru..

he loves his kids..
and they love him

please I pray he returns one day...to share his stories, his love , his future with my daughter and thier kids....and the rest of us..
God please take good care of him....we are counting on you...

I SALUATE SGT. GABE RILEY AND WILL PRAY FOR HIM, HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN, THE WHOLE TIME HE IS SERVING THIS COUNTRY IN HARM'S WAY. GOD BLESS AND KEEP HIM AND MAY THE ANGELS ENCAMPETH AROUND HIM AND HIS TROOP AND NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST HIM AND HIS TROOP WILL PROSPER.
YOUR DAUGHTER IS SO PRETTY, THE SPITTING IMAGE OF HER MAMA.
THE PICTURE THAT HAUNTS ME IS THE PICTURE OF HIM KISSING HER ON THE STAIRWAY WITH THE LITTLE KIDDIES IN THE BACKGROUND. YES, HE WILL IN DEED LOVE THE PICTURES YOU PACKED FOR HIM.
THANK YOU FOR THE BEAUTIFUL CARDS...THEY CAME YESTERDAY AND I READ THEM AT MIDNIGHT. WE HAD MUCH RAIN, LIGHTENING AND THUNDER OFF AND ON YESTERDAY.
ANDY, OUR CAT THAT IS AFRAID OF STORMS SPENT MOST ALL DAY HIDING IN THE OFFICE.
YOU ARE AWESOME DeeDee.....

They're going to be fine. She knows you're there for her. I'm sure she's experiencing a range of emotions but she will find she's a lot stronger than she ever imagined. Being both mom and dad will present some unique challenges but they'll all settle into a routine and work it out. Prayers being sent for all our soldiers and their families! Hugs to you!

DeeDee my heart is breaking for you and your family. I am so happy you are spending time with your daughter and grandkids... I am sure that is a tremendous help to them. You stay strong my friend and you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers always. I only wish I had the words to say what my heart wants to say, to make you all feel better.

Bigs Hugs to you and your loved ones.

oh gosh DeeDee...I'm gutted now. God bless Gabe, Danielle and the kids. And God bless you too. How hard that would be. I've got a HUGE lump in my throat after reading this.

Whether you agree that our soliders should be in Afganistan or Iraq for me is irrelevant. A solider goes where he/she is told and does their job and for that we should all be thankful.

I read once that the only thing harder than being a solider is loving one - I think your post bears that out!

We'll keep a good thought for Sgt Riley and his colleagues safety.
