Dress Up 2011- February

This Months Artist is

quoted from

Gustav Klimt!  I'm sure you recognize The Kiss.  Klimt completed this "fascinating icon of the loss of self lovers experience" in 1908.   I immediately thought of The Kiss and how perfect Klimt is for February...the month for love!  Sexuality, regeneration, love and death are major themes in Klimt's artwork.   He founded the school of painting called the Vienna Sezession, which, according to the Paris Web Museum, "embodied the highly keyed erotic, psychological, and aesthetic preoccupations of turn of the century Vienna's dazzling intellectual world."  The Sezession is also known as the Viennese version of Art Nouveau

I chose this as my inspiration

I love all the shapes he uses to do his drawings..
which I thought lent itself to
Zentangles
As in mine below

He also is know for nudity....
I didn't want to do any of that,
But my rendition of this is the the circles on the bust
I know it looks nothing like it..
But I cannot mimic his art
It is to wonderful
So I made my own
With shapes and sizes as he does

please head over to

and check out all the dresses

Hi DeeDee, we chose the same painting, which must mean we have good taste!! Love your zentangle dress, it is so detailed, like Klimt's work.

Wow, that is so detailed! It is gorgeous! What intricate work that is, a true artist is able to interpret a painting so well!

What a gorgeous interpretation of the inspiration painting you chose - I think the zentangles idea captures the lushness of the Adele Bloch Bauer painting. Beautiful!

Zentangleriffic! I can so see the inspiration for them in the painting and I just love the flow and shape of your dress. Those piano keys twisting up the side are glorious. I can actually imagine your creation done up in the metallic colors and think it would be just as incredible as it is without. Nice nod to the nudity with the circles too!

Faith, trust, and faerie dust!
