But Mom..Everyone Has One

So there for I wanted one too...I see these little spikey deals on lots of blogs and in many pictures, holding fun cards and pictures...I don't know what they are called or what they even are..but I love them for the display of things...I found one at a local antique mall reasonalbly priced..but UGH! it was the all popular color lime-ish green...lol...

and very spikey

so I set out to alter this for my needs

and now it matches my craft room and I love it even more...I know I took its story away, but now it can start a new story of life renewed..

and here ya see it..holding a beautiful ATC card
all nice and proud

I love it...and will use this lots..you will see this start its new life in many things that I do..
if you know what these things are called please let me know so I can address it as more then a spikey deal

DeeDee,
Wendy is right it is called a flower frog. It was green in color to camoflauge it in the bottom of a vase of flowers. The flowers were stuck onto the frog so they could be arranged and would stay in place. I have some that are glass with holes in them.
The round glass piece was at the top of the vase and the stems went into the holes. That was a different time, when people had time to arrange flowers. With all the other things they had to do as well.

Isn't it funny how we repurpose these old items? I remember when Lindsey found one at a flea market and got so excited. I wondered what we needed that for:) Have a wonderful day! Twyla

I had to laugh at your spikey thingy... I have two of them and didn't know what they were for when I bought them... I have several frogs with the holes too... do I use them, nope... just one of those things you pick up along the way and there it sits collecting dust.

I like what you did to yours, so much nicer especially for what you are using it for.

Hope you are having a fun day Dee Dee.

Hugs, Deb

Looks like I'm late in helping to solve your mystery, but I can tell you that I'm jealous - florist frogs are hard to find here in UT. I love the all black look - very classy & great for showcasing those lovely little pieces of art!

DEEDEE,
THOSE ARE CALLED FLOWER FROGS AND THEY ARE HIGHLY COLLECTABLE AND YOURS LOOKS TO BE IN FINE CONDITION. COUNTRY LIVING HAS DONE SEVERAL ARTICLES ON THEM AND THERE ARE SOME FLOWER FROGS THAT GO AS HIGH AS THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS....THAT IS FOR THE VERY RARE ONES. I HAVE 2 GLASS ONES BUT NOT THE METAL ONES LIKE YOURS.
NOW THEY DO NOT USE FLOWER FROGS BUT PUT TAPE ACROSS THE VASE FORMING A FROG TO HOLD THE FLOWERS IN PLACE. YOU FOUND A GOOD DEAL.
HUGS
